Spooktacular Ways to Go Non-GMO This Halloween

Green Mustache is always proud to be a Non-GMO Project Verified company, but during Non-GMO Month, we’re especially proud this October! GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses, or other plants and animals. These experimental combinations of genes from different species cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding.

The Non-GMO Project started as a simple idea: a number of retailers believed that consumers in North America should have access to clearly-labeled Non-GMO food and products, now and in the future. The Non-GMO Project is the only organization offering independent verification of testing and GMO controls for products in the U.S. and Canada. The verification seal indicates that the product bearing the seal has gone through the Project’s verification process.

In the US, as much as 80% of conventional processed foods contain GMOs. Growing evidence shows that environmental damage, health problems, and violation of farmers’ and consumers’ rights are connected with GMOs. Since GMOs are prohibited in organic foods, it’s a great way to make sure your family eats healthy and stays safe. To avoid GMOs and support the sustained availability of non-GMO choices in North America, choose foods and products that have the Non-GMO Project Verified seal.

With Halloween quickly approaching, we’ve rounded up a few spooktacular organic, non-GMO treats for your family and trick-or-treaters to enjoy!
